I have seen my flute music soothe a crying baby,
bring light to the eyes and song to the lips of an
aging person, lend a dimension of warmth and
depth to the voices of a wedding couple, ease the
burden of a grieving child, and bring joy and
inspiration to many. I've been told by people of
wide ranging faiths that my music brings them
closer to God. I've played on mountain tops, ocean
and lake shores, open fields, creek banks, in
churches, mountain chapels, concert halls,
retirement homes, art galleries, pre-schools, music
studios, living rooms, dining rooms and kitchens.
Mission Statement
My mission as a
performer is to feel and
express the pulse of life
and love and joy, and to
challenge myself through
ever increasing variety of
experience and study and
rigorous practice, to be the
most lucid channel I can be
for expressing, through
flute music, all that is
fundamentally human.
My mission as a teacher is to strive constantly for ever increasing trust and mutual
understanding, and variety of detail and nuance in conveying information, inspiration and a plan of
action, to ensure that every student is able to develop the physical, psychological, emotional
and/or spiritual tools, talents, and understanding, for optimal growth, self expression, confidence
and joy. An equal part of my mission is to remain open and eager to learn from each of my
students about new angles of seeing, hearing, feeling, communicating, learning, teaching and
expressing.
