Solo Flute
The sound of the flute has been admired since before recorded history, and its popularity has never waned. It carries well, whether outdoors or in a large cathedral, yet is intimate enough for a small room or a tiny mountain chapel.

Solo flute can be an ideal choice for any location, and is a frequent choice for outdoor events. Many instruments can be impacted negatively by minor fluctuations in temperature and humidity, or are too large to be easily transported. The flute is made of metal, so can more easily withstand the elements, and is small enough to transport anywhere and to move quickly if the weather should change.
                          A Few Suggestions
for Wedding Music Suitable for Solo Flute

First, please don't see this list as a limitation. There are infinite options. This is just one set of possibilities to get things started. Really, most music can work for any portion of a wedding, depending on the style of wedding you choose and your music preferences. These are just a few commonly selected choices to get started.

Processionals
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (J.S. Bach)
Sheep May Safely Graze (J.S. Bach)
Canon in D (Pachelbel) – this one is really better with
more than one instrument, but it's workable for solo
     flute and quite popular
Bridal Chorus (Wagner) – otherwise known as "Here
Comes the Bride" still a popular choice for the more
     traditional wedding
The Lover's Waltz (Jay Unger and Molly Mason)

Recessionals
Wedding March (Mendelssohn) – this is the old
traditional standby and still a common choice
Allegro from Sonata in F Major (Handel)
Minuet from Suite in A Minor (Telemann)
Numerous movements from Telemann Fantasias
     for Solo Flute
Celtic tunes – jigs, reels – ask if you want some
suggestions here – there are many

The Sarabande from Bach's Partita for Solo Flute is exceptionally beautiful for a meditative moment.  Any popular song usually sounds great on solo flute, as do hymns, folk songs, and transcriptions of popular classical selections. I'd be happy to speak with you more about your personal interests and choices. This is just a starter. We can either talk further, or you could just pick what you like either from the list or not, or you can just give me an idea of your style and I can come up with other suggestions or choose for you. I'm happy to assist in any way I can!
